This is not a talk therapy group, there will be no introductions etc. like in a typical talk therapy group it will be just quietly entering and finding a spot and starting in your own practice. Please RSVP, especially if you need a specific kind of chair support. I'd just like to have a sense of who is coming. Mindful Mondays are back!
A weekly 30 minute time slot for mindfulness practice at my office. I have so many clients who come to treatment seeking help for their anxiety, and in almost every first session I explain my definition of anxiety, "it's either obsessing about the past or worrying about the future", and what it is not; being right here right now- because this moment is actually okay. Sound familiar?
I also give that client on the first day a homework assignment, "just notice this week how much you are somewhere else, you are doing one thing but your mind is elsewhere. It is amazing what people discover. "I'm not present a lot"!
I do the work individually with folks in here but it seems like an add on when really, Mindfulness IS therapy. There are many limitations to talk therapy- just because you know why you are anxious that doesn't help you stop it, right?
